Festival of traditional musics and folk dances Instrument-Makers, concerts, folk dances and a unique atmosphere, the festival has become THE meeting place of traditional music in Europe. After 33 years to Saint-Chartier, meeting this year in the castle of Ars. The new site of the Meetings, in 8 km neighborhood of Saint-Chartier in the direction of La Châtre, is situated on the Municipality of Lourouer Saint-Laurent ( Indre). A unique show of instrument makers which welcomes 130 instrument makers from the whole world presenting and selling their instruments: bagpipes, hurdy-gurdies, accordions, wind instrument, percussion and many more… Some animations are proposed in the day : initiations folk dances, presentation of instruments, competition, , folk dances for children, Apérosol, meetings with the musicians … A single watchword: the pleasure to meet and to exchange around this friendly music.

Associate artist : Marc Perrone
Over many years, Mark Perrone has developed diatonique accordion playing for traditional music. His repertoire extends well beyond that, since he has equally plowed a furrow into the world of music for films and cabaret artists. His Italian culture, his Parisian-urchin tendency and his curiosity for the music of the world, makes him a musician beyond compare and a figure who fascinates and bewitches his audience. His musical creations, rich in colour, have impacted a whole generation of accordion players and will remain a reference for musicians to come. After several appearances during the festivals of 1989, 2001 and 2005, and a surprise appearance last year on the big stage, it is completely natural that he should establish himself as an associated artist at this 34th festival. On this occasion, Mark Perrone will bring together some of his friends and fellow musicians in order to present an opening concert of great music and discovery. Music, singing, improvisation and energy will be the essence of this evening. The Programme Commission “I recommend music for everyone, especially the accordion, a little in the morning, to warm up, a little in the evening, to forget all your worries. Do, do again, and re-do the music to better carry the dancers along and discover that there is movement in the music and music in the dance.” Marc Perrone
