A young group or a group of youngsters ?
Menestra was born four years ago, when Gurvan Kerboeuf (son of the hurdy-gurdy builder now living at La Châtre) and Fabien Robbe met up one day at Saint-Quay-Portrieux. The guitar-hurdy-gurdy duo was soon joined by the bass player Tangi Le Doré (of Diaouled ar Menez).

The latter's nephew, Iltud Le Doré (who plays the side drum with the Bagad of Guingamp), also joined the group as percussionist. In 1999 the group was winner of the famous Kan ar Bobl Breton music competition.
